Advisor Brown Bag Series
Provide an annual award (professional development funding) for quality advising. Nominations come from students, colleagues, and supervisors. Top three candidates may be nominated by the committee for awards at state, regional and national NACADA levels.
The three categories for awards are:
Academic Advising – Primary Role
Faculty Academic Advising
Academic Advising Administrator
This category includes staff that work in advising offices at front desks or in departments. These individuals have frequent student contact and due to the very nature of their jobs advise students.
This category also includes individuals working in a more administrative role who provide academic advising to students.
Assist with the planning of academic advising at New Student Orientation sessions

2nd YEAR GOALS OF THE ADVISING NETWORK
Improve/clarify pathways for sophomore students as they transition into their schools and departments

Encourage more faculty involvement
Explore ways to better document advising meetings
Create a survey for students to learn what they want from their advisor meetings, gaining both the freshman/sophomore and the junior/senior perspectives
Utilize ORIP to assist in this survey and look at ways that advising ties into student retention
Develop ways advisors can help students begin thinking about what they want to do when they graduate
Expand advisor awards to include a graduate assistant award
Complete an Advising section for the Undergraduate and Graduate Catalogs
